The activity fully engaged and encouraged participation from the senior consumers and everyone shared in happiness and enjoyment. TSC Home and Community Care’s case manager team also fully interacted with everyone in the event to celebrate and welcome in the New Year. The scene was full of warmth and joy. Due to the pandemic, we did not have the opportunity this year to meet face-to-face however in the online space, we are as close as family members.

The event kicked off with the New Year speech of Ms. Wang, CEO and was followed by the heartfelt messages and greeting shared by the TSC Case Management Team, nursing team and internal staff team. Sincere wishes and blessings were shared.

After the festive and lively New Year greeting, the long-awaited Chinese New Year lantern riddles began. The year of 2022 is that of the. Tiger, full of prosperity and health.

The host specially prepared various later riddles related to the word “Tiger”. Everyone brainstormed and discussed the answers, showing eagerness to take part. The seniors of TSC come from various countries around the world. We designed a “lantern riddle guess the city”section. The seniors were enthusiastic and shared in positive and high spirits on this special day.

Mr. Zhao said: “Participating in this quiz made me very excited and happy. It felt like I returned back to my student days.”

 This event was followed by a home care knowledge quiz. The consumers were aware of the inclusions and exclusions of the home care package, how to benefit from a home care packages, responsibilities and policies that they need to know and follow.

Following was a talent sharing time, 86-year-old Ms. Ruan showed two events which was met woth unanimous praise from everyone. Ms. Song sang a solo song called “Congratulations”, it was very suitable for the festive atmosphere. Ms. Zhang and Mr. Zhanf also shared their solo events to express their love for their families and friends. Mr. Zhao danced diabolo, pushing the event to a climax. The Laolaile Dance Team and Melbourne Activity Centre also shared their large-scale dances and small song performances for all to enjoy. 85-year-old Mr. Zhang and Mr. Zhang ended this time with a small talk show.

The program was extra meaningful as everyone spent time self prepared and preforming.

Ms.Liu said: “This is even more exciting than the Spring Festival Gala because it is a special party that has been prepared just for us seniors.”

Just when everyone was discussing the best program, the host received a special grant from the CEO that all who participated would be given a red packet with $100 in recognition of their willingness to share and their brave spirit to preform for others. This was an encouragement for them to continue to delve into their hobbies and share their interests with others whilst maintaining a young and joyful spirit.

All the activities and programs have reached a conclusion but everyone’s enthusiasm has yet to diminish. They all spent time actively interacting and chatting with one another.
